Since joining forces, Nigel Clarke and Michael Csányi-Wills have written film scores that range from Warner Brother’s adventure films right through to british gangster films like “The Baseline”.

They have also co-written scores to more drama based films such as ‘Jinnahstarring Christopher Lee and James Fox, and The Rocket Post’ which was awarded the Festival Grand Prize at The Stony Brook Film Festival in New York and was released in November 2006.

Aside from their large orchestral scores Nigel & Michael also work with far more contemporary, programmed-based scores and have used them to great effect recently in their score to the feature film “The Baseline” starring Dexter Fletcher and Jamie Foreman, due for release in 2010.

They were nominated as ‘Newcomers of the Year 2001′ for their score to The Little Vampire’ at the Movie Music U.K. Awards, also for Best Music for an Animation for ‘The LittlePolar Bear’in 2003 and as’Discovery of the year’ 2006 at the World Soundtrack Awards, for their score to ‘The Thief Lord’.

NIGEL CLARKE began his musical career as a military bandsman, but a developing interest in composition, stimulated by the New Polish School of composers, took him to the Royal Academy of Music to study with Paul Patterson. It was there that his striking originality and capacity for hard work were recognised by several significant awards including the Josiah Parker Prize adjudicated by Sir Michael Tippett and the Queen’s Commendation for Excellence – the Royal Academy of Music’s highest distinction.

Nigel Clarke has held many posts including Young Composer in Residence at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts; Composition and Contemporary Music Tutor at the Royal Academy of Music in London, Head of Composition at the London College of Music and Media, and Associate Composer to the world famous Black Dyke Mills Band. He has also been guest professor at the Xinjiang Arts Institute in north-west China and Associate Composer to the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall.

More recently he has become a visiting tutor at the Royal Northern College of Music and Associate Composer to the Band of HM Grenadier Guards. In 2008 the award of Doctor of Music Arts was conferred upon him by Salford University. In 2005 Nigel and Michael formed the music production company `Moviefonics Ltd’.

MICHAEL CSÁNYI-WILLS studied with Hilary Coates before graduating from the Royal Academy of Music where he studied piano with Christopher Elton and Frank Wibaut, and composition with Nigel Clarke. In 2002, Michael was invited to become Composition Fellow at the London College of Music and Media, where he studied with composers Martin Ellerby and David Matthews. As a pianist, Michael’s solo repertoire ranges from Bach through to Hans Werner Henze, and in recent years has championed the young generation of composers including Germany’s leading young composer Jorg Widmann. As a composer, Michael’s music ranges from classical to rock, and has collaborated with long term writing partner Nigel Clarke on Several film scores. In 2005 Nigel and Michael formed the music production company `Moviefonics Ltd.’
